Dear Peachtree City BMX,

In the 2010 BMX Nation magazine, Gary Aragon CEO of the NBL wrote a touching letter to the BMX community around the world of Special Needs children and families.  I was touched to read his personal story and could relate too well.  Our family is one of those staggering statistics.

Acting on a personal mission, fueled by his passion and commitment for children, Gary turned disability into special ability.  Gone, defeated in true BMX style is one statistic of limitations.  Instead, in its place the creation of a program providing unlimited opportunity for all children, of all abilities in the newly created program, NBL Riders with Special Abilities.

Before Gary's vision, I would have never dreamed our family would be at a BMX track - much less the Georgia Peach National. Standing on the sidelines, I watched as my son blended in among the sea of riders. As the gate slammed to the ground, I witnessed Miles' freedom - freedom from labels, statistics and disabilities.  He rode fast, he rode hard, he rode for himself and he rode for the sport.  In our world, that can only be described in one word - MAGIC!  We now know the magic of NBL BMX!

Their are so many people to thank - Gary Aragon, NBL (Visionary/Hero), Kellie Huff, CEO Aurora Strategies (Neuro-Science), Kurt and the gang at J & R Bicycles (BMX Gear King!), TB Trophies and Awards - and all the track sponsors!  A very special thank you to Shayne and Anthony Robinson of Peachtree City BMX. Shayne went above and beyond to help us throughout the weekend providing mentoring and encouragement. We also wanted to thank the amazing NBL staff and Peachtree City BMX volunteers.  We learned instantly NBL BMX is a community of caring, dedicated volunteers and families.

On behalf of Miles Lucas, National Ambassador for the NBL Riders with Special Abilities, thank you for your warm hospitality at the Georgia Peach National. And from his Mom, I extend my sincerest gratitude.

See you at the motto board!

Robin and Miles Lucas
